International Freight Manager

As an international freight manager your main responsibilities will be to handle a package of customers (companies) which uses our services on a daily bases. Commercial clients usually have a large volume of merchandise for which quoting is needed and very fast action is required.


Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

•Monitor and manage Traffic Coordinators and their specific job functions.

•Develop expert knowledge of the current TMS systems, as well as new systems that get rolled out, and be able to train region users on system functionality.

•Assist in the development and implementation of supply chain models for improvements of logistics and transportation network throughout the region.

•Work with Traffic Coordinators to identify opportunity lanes for improved service, capacity and/or rates with external carriers.

•Work with CSRs, Buyers and Sales on how to obtain relevant cost and order status information from the TMS system.

•Assist in development and upkeep of regional metric data on internal/external transportation costs.

•Assist in coordinating regional expense control programs for logistics and transportation.

•Assist corporate Transportation team in negotiating freight rates as needed.

•Work with assigned locations and Corporate Fleet Mgr. to identify and optimize low utilization fleet assets.

•Work with assigned locations to improve DOT compliance.


Qualifications: Education/Training

•7+ years experience managing transportation

•College degree

•Proficient using PC based packages such as Access, Excel, and PowerPoint

Transportation Manager

The Transportation Manager is responsible for all client facing transportation management activities including field operations. Client base may include up to 3-4 clients generating up to $90 million freight under management. Book of business will generate approximately $4M in operating revenue and $1M in operating margin.


Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Logistics or related field or (8) years equivalent work experience

A minimum of (7) seven years of transportation operations experience, including: carrier management, transportation planning, project management and supervision that is required for this position

Intermediate skills in MS Excel, such as freezing/unfreezing panes, hiding/unhiding data, setting print titles & page breaks, linking workbooks, creating external links, re-directing links, customizing toolbars & menus, protecting a worksheet, filtering options, and chart formatting options

Basic skills in MS Access, such as identifying database components, starting and examining access, opening a database, planning and creating a database, saving and adding records, finding and replacing values in a table, setting field properties, creating reports, and printing reports

Intermediate skills in MS Word, such as using mail merge, tabs, tables, columns and breaks, graphics, fields, headers and footers, working with margins, page orientation, and spelling/grammar

Intermediate skills in MS Power Point such as working with templates, using multimedia objects and custom animations, adding interactions, and publishing completed presentations

Masters Degree preferred. - Knowledge of logistics and the ability to integrate supply chain components

Develop transportation strategy to support client's logistics strategy

Define transportation strategy based on new business requirements

Previous experience conducting presentations and supervising others is required

Working knowledge of TM capabilities used within assigned account(s) - TM, CM, ROL, etc.

Solid written and oral skills with a strong ability to work with others (customer, carriers & Ryder)

Previous experience with financials and a financial acumen is required

Aptitude to gain further competency in Statistical and/or Transportation Analysis tools (Minitab, SAS, Metlab, i2, Tmod, ILPS) - Ryder TM Operating Tools (Miles, TIS, i2TMS, Ryder On line)


Responsibilities:

Position is responsible for customer satisfaction, employee selection/development, organic revenue growth and achievement of aggressive financial targets

Applies product knowledge to develop enhanced solutions for the customer improving customer satisfaction while improving revenue/margins for Ryder. Work cohesively with all Ryder internal Subject Matter Experts including Sales, Transportation Management Center, operations, Supply Chain Excellence, Marketing, Pricing, Finance, & IT

Alignment of efforts and results to customer requirements and scope of work

Development and management of Field Support teams including staffing and workload planning Development of Field Support Strategies New customer implementation support

Accessorial) Strategic customer initiatives
